UK CV — what you need to know
UK CVs follow specific conventions that differ from many other countries.
❌ Common mistakes immigrants make

Including a photo UK CVs never include photos — it can cause bias issues.

Too long — more than 2 pages UK CVs should be maximum 2 pages.

Including nationality or visa status Never include passport details or visa status on a UK CV.

UK interview tips
Use the STAR method UK interviews use competency questions — "Tell me about a time when..." Answer with Situation, Task, Action, Result.
Research the company Know their products, values, recent news, and competitors. Always prepare 3 questions to ask at the end.
Dress smart When in doubt, dress one level smarter than you think necessary. Always neat and professional.
Arrive 5–10 min early Being late to a UK interview is very difficult to recover from. If delayed, call ahead immediately.
Know your salary range Research market rates. It's fine to say "I'm open to a competitive salary in line with market rates."
Follow up after Send a brief thank-you email within 24 hours. UK employers notice this — it shows professionalism.
